Here’s my pay-to-download plug for the week: Funkommunity’s “Chequered Thoughts.” I’ve been waiting for this Australian Duo’s debut release for quite some time, and it’s finally available in the US. This album is full of Future Soul heat, and I whole-heartedly recommend you check it out.

 

Well, certainly the theme of this week was Hip Hop Soul. We got not only the new release from Balance and the Traveling Sounds, but also an exceptional EP from Phony Ppl. Both releases are Must-downloads and will keep your weekend hopping until it’s time to go back to work on Monday.

Free Soul Music Saturday for October 1, 2011

It has officially gotten too large, this little music blog.

This week had such an influx of new music that it’s really become quite overwhelming to keep up — let alone post — all of it. In the past few weeks, I’ve had to disregard music I just felt wasn’t up to snuff for inclusion. But now, I’m truly only going to be able to represent the best of what I listen to every week.

But there is plenty of things that deserve your attention as a listener, and I do log all of my listening in my Google Docs. So, let me make sure you get access to that listing HERE and then briefly explain my rating system…

3 Stars (★★★) = a perfectly good submission, download and post worthy. But for the sake of keeping the blog manageable, it doesn’t make the Saturday posting.

4 Stars (★★★★) = definitely download. Worthy enough to make the Saturday post and something I’ll probably listen to again or possibly purchase.

5 Stars (★★★★★) = Must Download. Likely to be featured on the Saturday post as a Mix/EP/Single-of-the-Week. Will probably make it to a later Funky White Boy Podcast.

Hopefully that will be enough information to keep this blog manageable yet still give you, the listener, even more music to feast on each week. We’ll try this for a few weeks and see how it goes. But now, on with the show!
